The entry list for the first event of the IRC season - the Istanbul Rally Turkey - was released today and it includes a strong contingent of S2000 cars. In total, 8 Abarth Grande Puntos and 5 Peugeot 207s will take the start.
Former WRC drivers Dani Sola and Gillles Panizzi will line up in Puntos whilst names such as Jan Kopecky and Freddy Loix will compete in Peugeot 207s. The Abarth works team features Giandomenico Basso and the talented young Finn Anton Alen whilst 2007 IRC runner up Nicolas Vouilloz will partner Loix in the Peugeot Belgium team.
Renato Travaglia, Volkan Isik, Brice Tirabassi, Luca Rosetti, Michal Solowow and Arnaud Augoyard will all also start in S2000 cars whilst 2007 Honda driver Luca Betti will drive a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo9.
This is a strong start to the 2008 IRC season, but this could actually be one of the smaller start lists of the year - already on the next round in Portugal Didier Auriol and Francois Duval will join the regulars.
