With one day to go until entries close for next week’s Targa Florio-Rally Internazionale Di Sicilia, the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier looks set to be a close fight between Italian aces Paolo Andreucci and Giandomenico Basso (pictured) plus IRC stars Jan Kopecký and Andreas Mikkelsen.
Andreucci, a six-time winner of the event, will drive a Peugeot 207 Super 2000 with Basso competing in an M-Sport Ford Fiesta RRC. Kopecký and defending IRC champion Mikkelsen will both rely on ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000s as they make their debuts on the legendary asphalt rally.
Other drivers in the hunt for victory in Sicily include Umberto Scandola and Alessandro Perico, plus rising German talent Sepp Wiegand.
