Le Mans 24 Hours racer and ex-Formula One driver Stéphane Sarrazin will return to the FIA European Rally Championship next month when he tackles Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse for a fifth time. The Frenchman will compete in a Ford Fiesta RRC on the legendary island rally from 6-8 November following an outing on Critérium des Cévennes in France next week, which the 38-year-old is using to reacclimatise to rallying having spent much of 2014 racing for Toyota in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

“I am very happy to come back to rally competition and to have the opportunity to take part in two of the most beautiful rally challenges,” said Sarrazin, who finished third in Corsica last season. “I want to thank Toyota Racing who has given me a green light to compete there on top of the World Endurance Championship. I just want to enjoy it clearly but I am also a competitor and I will be ambitious. Tour de Corse will be a fantastic opportunity for me to pit against the best contenders in Europe. Together with First Motorsport and the support of and 8Star Motorsports, I think that we could be challengers.”

Corsican Jacques-Julien Renucci will co-drive Sarrazin, while two other drivers, Eric Camilli and Julien Maurin, are also due to compete on the ERC season-closer.

This year’s Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse starts in Porto Vecchio on 6 November and finishes in Ajaccio two days later. The route features 11 stages over a competitive distance of 251.50 kilometres.
