Eric Camilli presents the new Ford Fiesta R5. The Renties Ypres Rally 2019 has the honour of presenting the brand-new Ford Fiesta R5 to the Belgian public in a world premiere. Exactly 6 years after Thierry Neuville presented the current Ford Fiesta R5 as an opening car in Ypres, Eric Camilli gets the honour to present the new version of the Ford Fiesta R5 from M-Sport as an opening car.

The Frenchman is proud to present the new M-Sport weapon in Ypres.

"I'm really excited to be driving the all-new Ford Fiesta R5 at Rally Ypres. I can remember Thierry Neuville driving the original car there in 2013, so it's really cool that I get to do the same exactly six years later with the new and improved car! I was involved in the testing and development of this new car, and I have to say that the guys at M Sport have done a fantastic job. As soon as you get behind the wheel you can feel the improvements and the designers and engineers really have made gains in every area!"

It will be Eric Camilli's first encounter with the famous Renties Ypres Rally stages. "I've never competed in Ypres, but every rally driver knows how amazing the roads are there; and I can't wait to show what the all-new Fiesta R5 can do on these super-fast stages!," he said enthusiastically.

The Ford Fiesta R5 is a very important model for M-Sport. Malcolm Wilson's team attaches great importance to this world premiere in Ypres.

"Exactly six years ago we launched the original Ford Fiesta R5 at Rally Ypres and it went on to become our most successful global rally car. It's a very special car for M-Sport and even though the original cars continue to win rallies and championships all over the world, we have taken our time to ensure this new model is even better with performance gains in every area," said Managing Director Malcolm Wilson OBE. "The test programme has been extensive, and we have worked hard to ensure this new car suits every level of driver. We have quite literally travelled the world - testing on a wide range of surfaces, in varying conditions and with a whole host of drivers taking to the wheel. This car is extremely important to us, and its adaptability is essential to its success.

"I'm extremely proud of this project, and it will be quite special for us to see the all-new Fiesta R5 compete on these fantastic stages exactly six years after its predecessor. Eric has been involved in the development and knows the car extremely well. And the fast asphalt roads around Ypres really will provide the perfect setting for this special debut."
