• Stage info:It is nice to have a rally kicking off with a classic. The Platres – Kato Amiantros stage has been the starting stage of Rally Cyprus every year since its inclusion into the WRC. It is quite a short stage and typically rough and twisty for this rally. There is one famous spot in this stage where the raer of the cars is kicked up really badly just before a Square Left. In 2001 there was a really famous photo around everywhere of Didier Auriol’s Peugeot nose landing really badly, close to the point of no return from an end over end roll. Well, that was this place.

• Incidents: Careful start, even Hyundais survived first stage, but expect the next to have trouble in the bag for some.
  
• Performances:So roads cleaning helps, but respect to Harri Rovanperä, Petter Solberg and Didier Auriol (3rd in the Octavia!) for some really strong times.
