Mitsubishi was there and showed a lot of plain silver cars. It seemed to be one of the less imaginative stands. But there were a number of interesting cars. The main attraction seemed to be the Mitsubishi Grandis, which is a new minibus type MPV and is in line to replace the Space Wagon. Mitsubishi as well showed a number of new Mitsubishi Lancer, that like the Grandis carries the new Mitsubishi brand identity front. The Lancer replaces the Carisma. From what motorsport fans know as Lancer Evo4 to Evo6, that was sold in central Europe as the Carisma, while there was no equivalent to the Evo7. With the Evo8, Europe welcomes back the Lancer road car, even though, judging i.e. by the dash board, the Evo8 is only a mild renovation of the Evo7 rather than the entirely new car the Evo7 was.
And of course we have a photo of the Lancer Evo8 as well:
But for the rally fans, we have a photo of this:
The car in the background is a Mitsubishi Pajero Evo concept that was already shown in Frankfurt two years ago. The rally car on display is still an Evo7 type Lancer WRC. But it is quite an interesting car. It is the very car in its original condition that former F1 star Mika Häkkinen drove in the Arctic Rally earlier this year. Note how they fitted long play records as tyres! Reminds me why I prefer rally cars in tarmac spec.
