As a sign of respect for Michael Park, the flags surrounding the WRC Rally Japan headquarters and at the ceremonial start of the rally will be at half-mast on Thursday 29th September 2005.

All flags will be raised with the playing of the national anthem, prior to the first car taking the start ramp.

Rally Japan Clerk of Course Makita Ryuji said, "There are many people at this rally and many followers of the sport who would like to take a moment to remember the brilliant life of Michael Park."

"The flags at half-mast will show our respect and sorrow at Michael's passing. We feel he would also want the rally and life to continue as normal so we will raise the flags for the rally's start and the event will then proceed," Ryuji said.

Rally Japan extends its most sincere condolences to the family of Michael Park, who died tragically at Wales Rally GB on September 18th 2005.
