Although nothing has quite been signed yet, it is 99.9% certain that Harri Rovanpera will be driving all 14 rounds of the World Rally Championship in a 206 WRC next year. That is what Peugeot will offer him, the details just have to be sorted, and Harri has said himself that he will be driving for the French team once again. Gilles Panizzi is also looking good to get the same program and the most likely scenario is that Rovanpera will drive the third car on all gravel events with Gilles driving the tarmac rounds. Whichever one will not drive the third factory car would get a works supported and funded Grifone 206.
Whilst that is what is most likely to be finalised, Harri has not signed yet because it could be that all his events would be in the works car. A Peugeot Sport source told wrc-online: "Whether Harri gets an official car or not for all the year, we don't yet know, it's depends who will be the 4th driver for us."
If, as it is widely rumoured, Richard Burns makes the switch to Peugeot for 2002 then he would get an equal footing with Marcus Gronholm and they would be entered on all 14 events in the works cars... however if the 4th driver turns out to be a young gun, or someone they don't want to risk a full program on, then Harri would get all 14 with the other sharing the 3rd car with Gilles.
"It will be more clear after the Rally San Remo," continued the source. And that's only 11 days away!
