The OMV Peugeot Norway World Rally Team has reached its goal at the “Rallye de France - Tour de Corse”. Seventh overall place and two WRC-points mean that the OMV duo Manfred Stohl/Ilka Minor defended fourth place in the FIA World Rally Championship intermediate ranking. Thus the Austrians have ridden out the tarmac interlude. Now it’s back onto gravel where Manfred Stohl feels more than just at home.

Satisfying performance

OMV driver Manfred Stohl is quite satisfied with his performance at the Corsica rally. Seventh place means that the best possible result was reached. Stohl: “I think for now we have reached the zenith on tarmac. The time missing on the top could only be made up by extensive testing. I’m very happy about the two WRC-points and glad that we’ll be back on gravel for the next three rallies.“ The 33-year-old Austrian is equally glad about the fact that he was able to defend fourth place in the WRC intermediate ranking. Now the OMV driver has his sights once again on the top 3.

No problems on final leg

The OMV Peugeot Norway World Rally Team didn’t take any risk on the third leg of the “Rallye de France – Tour de Corse“. On the one hand an improvement was nearly impossible and on the other hand the OMV driver had his pursuer, tarmac specialist Stephane Sarrazin (Subaru), always under control. Stohl: “It would have been stupid to play hazard with an excellent place. We did our all to find a smooth line and get the Peugeot 307 WRC safely across the finish ramp. But we also realised that the worse the road conditions got the more we gained on our competitors. It’s merely on the highway-like high-speed stages that we still lack some grip.“
