Czech Rally Team Kopecký has undergone a test of the Škoda Fabia WRC car on Monday on location of another race, which is part of the World Rallye Championship circuit, this being the Catalunya Rallye. The Škoda Fabia WRC car was running around approximately eighty kilometers from Barcelona near the city of Vic.
Jan Kopecký had at his disposal today a test section, which included a technical part, but also a very fast flat ground. The track selected for testing was to relatively well simulate the conditions, which can be expected at the special stages in Catalunya.
Very pleasant weather prevailed over Spain on Monday, during the day the temperature has climbed up from fifteen degrees Celsius in the morning up to thirty degrees in the afternoon. Škoda Fabia WRC car, which is newly prepared just for the Rallye Catalunya has run through more than a hundred testing kilometers and Jan Kopecký was very happy with the car and especially its setup. Especially positive driving properties are being shown as a result of the modification to the chassis part of the racing special.
The race starts officially on Thursday with the traditional shakedown and start of the initial special stage of the race, where the Jan Kopecký-Filip Schovánek crew will be defending the excellent fifth place finish last year, is scheduled for eight twenty on Friday morning. Eighteen special stages await the crews and their race cars.
"During the test we had the weather on our side and so we took appropriate advantage of the excellent conditions. One hundred and ten kilometers of testing were sufficient to verify certain changes, which were performed as part of valid homologation especially to the chassis.
Especially changes to the rear differential appear to be very good. We adapted the driving properties of Škoda Fabia WRC race to the local tarmac surface, which has lower traction than at other tarmac races," Jan Kopecký commented shortly the test.
