Pierre Campana is making final preparations for his much anticipated performance at this weekend’s legendary Tour de Corse rally, although the Corsican is setting realistic expectations for his high profile performance on home soil.

Pierre, who is jointly leading the Intercontinental Rally Challenge 2WD Cup after an exceptional performance at the Monte Carlo rally back in January, is hoping to use the event as a springboard to the next phase of his rally career by delivering a solid and trouble-free performance.

The Tour de Corse, or Rally of 10,000 Corners as it is often known, is renowned for its diverse range of twists and turns on mountainous roads, and incorporates a brand new route for this year’s event, returning it to its origins.

For Pierre, whose preparations for the Tour were given a boost with a dominant win at the Citta’ di Schio rally last weekend, the most important aim for the event will be to finish each of the 14 stages with a performance that catches the eye of the viewing public – and his rivals!

Pierre will be taking part in the Tour de Corse with a Peugeot 207 S2000 car run by the Munaretto team, equipped with Michelin tyres and fuelled by VP Racing. The team have worked closely together over the past few weeks to build up a good feeling with the car and to get their Tour underway in the most competitive way possible. The importance of this weekend’s event will be given an extra boost by the live broadcast on Eurosport, which will give Pierre a captive audience to impress.

The Peugeot 207 car will also be adorned with the logos of Pierre’s supporters for this race, Quotidia and Perin, who have given the Corsican important backing for this event. The action gets underway on Thursday with two opening stages that start in Calvi before moving onto Corte, Pierre’s home town, on Friday, and the final day of action scheduled for Ajaccio on Saturday.

Pierre Campana said: “Finally, after weeks of anticipation and preparation, we find ourselves in front of the mythical Tour de Corse rally and I can barely contain my excitement. A rally on home ground and around my home town is special. The format is new for this year’s event, bringing Tour de Corse back to its roots, and I cannot wait to experience it. I have had some good performances with the Peugeot 207 and Michelin tyres recently, working with the Munaretto team, but we have to have a renewed focus for this rally. It will be a tough but enjoyable challenge. I am sure we have a package that can perform well, but we will take each stage as it comes and just do our best. I am just concentrated on doing what I can to show everybody what I am capable of. I have matured a lot as a rally driver in the last few years and I am ready to take my career to the next stage. Thanks to the support of Quotidia and Perin, as well as Munaretto and my management team, I am able to compete in this fantastic event over 14 stages and a total distance of 320km. With Peugeot Sport keeping an eye on me as well, I will dig deep to produce what will hopefully be the pinnacle of my career to date, and the start of an exciting new chapter. It’s going to be a great Tour de Corse.”
