Skoda 130 General Information

If you like giant killers, the Skoda 130 is the first car you have to look at. The Czech borders were pretty much grid locked, the country and its companies as poor as could be, yet Skoda turned out a car that was like an indestructible tank and for its little power and technology it had could turn out surprising results. To compare the car to other cars developed and run from similar circumstances, may it be Lada or Polski, it would be a comparison very unfair to Skoda, because their car was seriously good. Alongside Norwegian John Haugland a number of Czech drivers turned up with the Skoda on selected WRC events and managed more than once top10 finishes, which is absolutely amazing for what the Skoda was.

It speaks volumes for this model that not only was it rallied for ages, without major changes it was carried from group 2 into group B. There also were group A versions, but it further underlines how special this car was that its group B versions were the most famous versions, never mind the design already being some 20 years old.
