New WRC TV coverage for 2011

I bet HD is coming next year, but more onboards, and 3D graphics. There will be an enhanced post rally show, and a 1 hour power stage list. I'm sure only a tiny portion of WRC broadcasters will actually show the 2011 footage properly.

So basically for those few countries that have it, we now get driver feet and interior roof linings in High Definition!

Yes, but our country is one of those that will have it. On Rally France, I did see some chopper footage, and that was quite refreshing to see. This is of course the HDTheater coverage which is similar to the coverage found on One HD.

No WRC coverage in the US for 2011 unless Discovery decides to renew it. :(

Germany will have FTA WRC coverage, and even Australians can get FTA coverage via One HD. I wonder if VW is the one that is encouraging the FTA coverage of WRC. I think that is one of the requirements of VW's WRC program was to have decent TV coverage. Discovery HD Theater will carry WRC for 2011 in the USA, but not Canada. Don't know if Canada will get WRC coverage, but there will likely be some websites that will host the coverage, for those Canadian fans who absolutely want the WRC.

Sweden day1 review: a full 5 minutes? Wow!

Of course they couldn't do more, there are more important sport news. Evening TV program of Sport1:

19:15 Football Bundesliga
19:45 Bundesliga Fan Reporter
20:15 FIFA World Cup Review 1990
21:15 Football Italian League
21:45 WRC Sweden
21:50 Football News
22:30 Football French League
23:40 Football News round up
00:00 Sex Clips

I can kind of see why there was no more time for WRC. Some how it is itching me to press that program delete button!

Wow, even the Americans get better coverage on paytv then that! I guess all the UK fans should appreciate the ESPN coverage. At least that is being done properly. It probably makes MotorsTV sorry excuse of coverage look good.

I've heard that Sport1 is available in HD for the Germans who want to see Soccer/Football err WRC in high quality. Of course only paytv has this channel, but I don't think that UK fans should praise Germany for having FTA coverage.

I don't think the UK fans have to praise our German TV for anything. It's not only for the rallying. No horse racing, no golf, no cricket (we don't even know it), no football (as in rugby, we don't even know it), no baseball, no ice hockey, no pool/snooker, no nothing, but hours after hours after hours of bloody soccer. It does my head in. Are the media serious about they show what public wants to see? Which soccer fan wants to see 5 hours soccer without break, including footage from 1990, as Sport1 did yesterday? And it is not only Sport1. I lived for a few years in UK and believe me you have a better, fairer spread and more informative TV program. One joke of those days, when I moved to UK in the mid-late 90s people kept asking me about a chap called Bernhard Langer and then they couldn't believe as a German I had no clue who he was. As it turned out he was some recent multiple Golf World Champion and apparently German. I had honestly never ever heard about him on German TV, not a single word!

I'm still waiting for US coverage of Rally Sweden, even though the ISC is confirming that HDTheater will air it in my country. I'm sure we will get a similar coverage to ESPN as their coverage uses exactly the same commentator as the HDT coverage. I can't believe how bad it is in Germany, yet VW seems to be interested and could make an announcement within 6 months. Whether thats true, I don't know. In my country we can get so many channels on TV and at least our media tries to show a variety of sports.

Still the same 5 minute program on Sport one though there is a little more variety in the schedule.

17:30 - 19:45 Uhr
Basketball Live - Die Beko BBL
19:45 - 20:15 Uhr
Springreiten
20:15 - 22:00 Uhr
Snowboard Live
22:00 - 22:05 Uhr
MOTORSPORT FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
22:05 - 23:00 Uhr
SmackDown
23:00 - 00:00 Uhr
WWE Superstars

Sport1 does show a longer WRC highlight program that is 20 minutes long on their website. I've got this on their website, and on Saturdays there was quite a variety of sports like Smackdown, Rugby, Hockey, and even Basketball. Of course WWE Smackdown is fake wrestling, but it's quite popular in my country.

Earlier times get better coverage on Sport1. I have a thing called a DVR/PVR which records the WRC for me, so I can watch it on my schedule.

Hmm, you are sure they actually showed Snowboard and horse sports yesterday? I have never seen those on German TV. Today less variation:

09:00 - 09:30 Uhr
Serie A - Italienische Liga
24. Spieltag
Wiederholung (repeat)

09:30 - 11:00 Uhr
Bundesliga Pur 1
22. Spieltag

11:00 - 13:00 Uhr
DOPPELPASS - Die Krombacher-Runde
Live (it is a soccer studio discussion)

13:00 - 14:30 Uhr
Bundesliga Pur 1
22. Spieltag
Wiederholung (repeat, exactly the same 90min soccer they showed only 2h earlier)

14:30 - 15:00 Uhr
Reiten Dressur (aha, indeed horses, never knew they showed horses, probably would have switched off during the previous 5 1/2 hrs non-stop soccer)

15:00 - 15:45 Uhr
MOTORSPORT live FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
Live-Etappe bei der Schweden Rallye
Live (Indeed WRC, that show where the guys with the best starting order get 3 WRC points for 4km)

15:45 - 17:30 Uhr
Handball Live 1. Liga
SC Magdeburg - HSV Hamburg, 21. Spieltag
Live (hand ball, is it called that? Another neglected sport in Germany)

17:30 - 19:05 Uhr
Handball Live 1. Liga
THW Kiel - Füchse Berlin 21. Spieltag
Live

19:05 - 19:15 Uhr
SPORT1 News (I watched this news section a couple of times before, believe me it is 100% soccer)

19:15 - 20:30 Uhr
Hattrick Magazin So
22. Spieltag (Hattrick is 2nd league soccer)

20:30 - 21:00 Uhr
SPORT1 News (See above, it's soccer)

21:00 - 22:00 Uhr
Bundesliga Pur 1
22. Spieltag
Wiederholung (it is indeed a repeat of what they already showed at 9:30 & 13:00!)

22:00 - 22:30 Uhr
SPORT1 News (see above, it's soccer)

22:30 - 23:45 Uhr
Bundesliga Pur - Der Spieltag
22. Spieltag (Yes, Bundesliga, 22nd day, since we didn't have that for a long time and apparently football fans are dumb, they forget in half an hour if you don't explain what a lawn looks like 5 times a day)

23:45 - 00:00 Uhr
MOTORSPORT FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
geplant: Schweden Rallye, Highlights 3. Tag

* To be honest, I recorded the day1 round up since it came while a day2 stage was live, and at least the commentary was actually pretty good (in contrast to Ockenga, who does it since years for EuroSport and still does not get a single drivers name right) the only thing that let the show down was the NOS footage still showing faces when outside there are spins and nice tracks

00:00 - 06:00 Uhr
SPORT CLIPS - Countdown
Sport Clips are basically sex clips. But after 5.5hrs of Bundesliga repeats within altogether over 10hrs of effing soccer, plus 3hrs of handball, I don't think I have the balls to watch anything remotely having to do with balls any more!

So their own rally commentators seem pretty good first impression and what let's the show down is not their own doing. But what a rubbish program schedule, certainly not what I call variation. I think their name is misleading, Sport consists of more than one type of ball games.

Aha, 15:19 here, they now interrupted the live stage to show handball instead! Great! So much to live stage with points...

OK, the program came back again after some 10 minutes. We didn't see Wilslow, we didn't see the Fabia S2000, we didn't see PG Andersson's strong drive, now the coverage is over, I still don't know who got 2 points, I still don't know who got 1 point, I still don't know if Petter lost a position overall, I still don't know why Petter didn't drive himself....

You are sure you want to give WRC points for this? Maybe give WRC points for who has the nicest VIP tent at service? This is shit, sorry! No comparison to Monte on EuroSport, not even near it!

"23:45 - 00:00 Uhr

After the joke of a live stage, this program point of a 15min round up included 10min adverts and now they are on softcore porn clips! And the tiny bit that they did show was from Friday! That after the live stage left so many questions open.

If Mexico is the same it will be the last time I watched WRC on that station! That is taking the piss!

He didn't drive due to speeding. He was speeding and that caused him to lose his license for a couple of months. It only affects Sweden, so he can drive in Mexico no problem. ESPN had wonderful coverage, but am still waiting for the HDT coverage.
