Subaru is working with Cosworth to develop a new 1.6T for various forms of racing. Maybe this is a sign of a comeback with Tommi Makinen racing to develop a new WRCar. Of course they will need a longitudinal transmission in order to accommodate the Impreza chassis.

It won't help that Subaru wants to remove some of it's styling quirks to make their cars appeal more to the masses. I guess Subaru wants to be like VW.

Osamu Namba is the new lead designer at Subaru and his favorite cars are the Renault 5 aka the Le Car in my country and the Fiat Uno.
