WRC FIA confirms Australia @ 08:27 PM - The FIA has today confirmed that Rally Australia will run as normal this September, after the contract wrangles between the relevant sporting organisations down under were resolved. It's good news for WRC fans that one of the year's top events will run after many doubts; the decision will be ratified by the FIA world council on 2 April.

WRC Mexico Given Thumbs Up from FIA


WRC Ligato wins Mexico's WRC rehearsal @ 06:44 PM - Production Car World Rally Championship contender Marcos Ligato emerged victorious in the 2003 Corona Rally Mexico in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Poland’s Janusz Kulig ultimately finished second with Costa Rica’s Andres Montalto third in the leading Subaru - Ramon Ferreyros finished second on the road, 28 seconds adrift of Ligato, however final scrutineering revealed his Lancer Evolution VII to be fitted with a fly-wheel for an Evolution VI. The Peruvian was ultimately excluded and a strong three-day battle proved fruitless.

WRC Ligato leads after leg two @ 09:15 AM - On the Corona Mexico Rally, a contender for next year's WRC, Argentina’s Marcos Ligato has held off the opposition on the second leg and retains his lead, albeit by a narrow margin of 29.8 seconds from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution of Ramon Ferreyros. Poland’s Janusz Kulig (in another Group N Mitsubishi) holds third overall. The 25 stage event finishes on Sunday.

WRC Loeb goes to Mexico @ 12:04 AM - Citroen, has today confirmed that its 2003 Rallye Monte Carlo winner Sebastien Loeb will undertake the three-day recce for the forthcoming Corona Rally Mexico (13-16 March). This helps to underline a belief that the event could well be included in the 2004 FIA World Rally Championship calendar. Citroen are sending five personnel to Leon to undertake thorough research of the event, its organisation and facilities.
