WRC Marcus Wins, Pug 1-2 @ 11:55 AM - Marcus Gronholm is the 2002 Rally of Sweden winner from team-mate Harri Rovanpera. Carlos Sainz was just quick enough to hold off a third charging Peugeot driver, Richard Burns, for third while Janne Tuohino just secured fifth from Alister McRae and his brother Colin in seventh!

WRC Retirements on SS14 @ 11:15 AM - Hyundai's Freddy Loix, impressing many, retired with suspension failure and Armin Schwarz (Hyundai) retired on the road section with transmission problems.

WRC Drama On SS7 @ 11:51 AM - Jani Paasonen (Mitsubishi) lost a rear wheel in the stage and Colin McRae (Ford) broke a wheel loosing about 3 minutes each. Leaders Marcus and Harri look to have set the fastest times.

WRC Makinen out @ 02:43 PM - Makinen has retired from the rally after his accident on SS4. He tried to cool the engine after it lost coolant but to no avail.

WRC Makinen off @ 02:39 PM - Tommi Mäkinen went off the road in SS4, damaged the cooling system, carried on and is currently stopped trying to cool the engine down.

WRC Loeb Rolls on SS3 @ 11:19 AM - Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) has rolled on SS3, but finished the stage loosing three minutes. So far Marcus has set the fastest time with Makinen loosing out 37.9 seconds to him.

NEWS JUST IN

WRC Martin withdrawn @ 06:56 PM - Markko Martin has been withdrawn from the Swedish Rally after his shakedown accident. His car was too badly damaged to repair in time to start the rally.

WRC Martin start in doubt @ 02:16 PM - Markko Martin's start on the Swedish Rally has been put into doubt after he crashed his Ford Focus heavily on the shakedown. The team do not know if they can repair the car in time for scruitineering and the rally.
