IRC Lappi is already European Champion! @ 04:26 PM - Esapekka Lappi is crowned Champion before the ERC finale really got to start. The only driver able to catch him was Sepp Wiegand. A pre-event crash was actually just a minor slip into a ditch, but getting stuck there the hot catalysator set fire to the dry grass and eventually to the car. This left the car severely damagaed and Skoda seemingly unable to get a replacement car onto the island means Wiegand will now not start the Tour de Corse and Lappi therefore is confirmed as the champion.
