IRC RO End - Rough Rally ends @ 05:00 PM - Nothing happens any more as stupidly rough rally takes a break to then end with a 1km mini circuit race. Final results (after SS12)(subject to last road section and scrutineering):
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 2h15m28s;
2nd= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +5m33s8;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +11m56s9;

10th= Zupanc/Trcek, Mitsubishi, +21m14s

IRC RO SS11 - Mikkelsen wins Romania @ 03:06 PM - Delecour had front right damper broken last loop and front left damper broken this loop. If you want a rally that rough, why not do Dakar and call it something else? Only superspecial left now. Results after SS11:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 2h13m47s4;
2nd= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +5m32s9;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +11m52s2;

10th= Zupanc/Trcek, Mitsubishi, +21m03s3

IRC RO SS10 - More retirements @ 02:15 PM - Wiegand and Tempestini out now and Delecour further delays. To be honest, this is getting silly. I never liked rough rallies and this is why, it is just a lottery and the final result looks silly. Results after SS10:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 1h59m51s4;
2nd= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +5m18s9;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +9m26s2;
4th= Pushkar/Mishyn, Mitsubishi, +12m08s;

8th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +16m02s2;
9th= Cosma/Dorca, Citroen, +17m52s3;
10th= Zupanc/Trcek, Mitsubishi, +18m47s4

IRC RO SS9 - Broken damper for Delecour @ 10:45 AM - Delecour can continue. But rough rally, similar problems for Delecour, Szabo and Porcisteanu mean Flodin moved from 7th to 3rd now. Results after SS9:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 1h40m01s2;
2nd= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +2m48s5;
3rd= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +5m26s7;
4th= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +6m47s4;
5th= Pushkar/Mishyn, Mitsubishi, +10m09s3;
6th= Keleti/Csomortani, Mitsubishi, +10m49s6;
7th= Tempestini/Pulpea, Skoda, +11m18s9;
8th= Hunt/Durant, Citroen, +12m00s5;
9th= Consani/Beynet, Renault, +12m54s5;
10th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +14m20s2

IRC RO SS8 - Problems for Szabo @ 10:15 AM - Fatest time for Wiegand, slow time for Delecour, unsure if there were problems for Delecour and Mikkelsen. However a broken suspension means end of road for 4th placed Gergely Szabo. Results after SS8:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 1h26m04s8;
2nd= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +2m33s4;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +3m39s9;
4th= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +5m25s2;
5th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +5m57s4;
6th= Szabo/Laroly, Skoda, +7m11s8;

Dramatic opening day in Romania IRC Dramatic opening day in Romania Andreas Mikkelsen will take a commanding lead into the final day of the Sibiu Rally, the first Intercontinental Rally Challenge counter to take place in Romania, following a drama-filled day on the demanding, albeit picturesque gravel stages in Transylvania....

NEWS JUST IN

IRC RO leg1 - Mikkelsen wins every stage @ 09:12 PM - He was helped by being 1st on the road, but still good effort and good lead. Even the WRC softies started this stage and survived it (at least Flodin announced he wouldn't start a night stage in dust). But old master Delecour again 2nd fastest, so proper drivers can handle it it seems. Results after leg1 (SS7):
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 1h06m07s1;
2nd= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +2m44s1;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +3m08s8;
4th= Szabo/Borbely, Skoda, +4m17s7;
5th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +4m48s2;
6th= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +5m33s2;
7th= Pushkar/Mishyn, Mitsubishi, +6m15s3;
8th= Tempestini/Pulpea, Skoda, +6m36s6;
9th= Keleti/Csomortani, Mitsubishi, +6m44s1;
10th= Hunt/Durant, Citroen, +7m50s5

IRC RO SS6 - All asphalt stage @ 08:45 PM - Even though the drivers seem to be scared of asphalt on a gravel rally, the stage stays without major drama. It is the only asphalt stage. Next gravel in the dark. Delecour 2nd fastest. Results after SS6:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 55m26s2;
2nd= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +2m03s6;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +2m30s9;
4th= Szabo/Borbely, Skoda, +3m40s2;
5th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +3m50s7;
6th= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +4m54s8;
7th= Pushkar/Mishyn, Mitsubishi, +4m57s7;
8th= Tempestini/Pulpea, Skoda, +5m11s3;
9th= Marisca/Itu, Mitsubishi, +5m19s5;
10th= Keleti/Csomortani, Mitsubishi, +5m31s3

IRC RO SS5 - Action free superspecial @ 06:47 PM - WQhat to expect from a 1km superspecial. Some drivers had dust trouble here too, while Valentin Porcisteanu in a Mitsubishi matched Mikkelsen's stage win time. Results after SS5:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 49m33s6;
2nd= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +1m58s8;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +2m26s5;
4th= Szabo/Borbely, Skoda, +3m27s2;
5th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +3m30s1;
6th= Pushkar/Mishyn, Mitsubishi, +4m20s;
7th= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +4m45s4;
8th= Tempestini/Pulpea, Skoda, +4m52s2;
9th= Marisca/Itu, Mitsubishi, +4m59s;
10th= Keleti/Csomortani, Mitsubishi, +4m59s2

IRC RO SS4 - A lot of dust @ 05:45 PM - Huge standing dust with drivers complaining the start intervals should be increased. This gives a huge advantage to Mikkelsen as 1st on the road. Puncture for Szabo. Results after SS4:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 47m48s1;
2nd= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +1m56s3;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +2m16s2;
4th= Szabo/Borbely, Skoda, +3m17s6;
5th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +3m30s1;
6th= Pushkar/Mishyn, Mitsubishi, +4m14s6;
7th= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +4m43s;
8th= Tempestini/Pulpea, Skoda, +4m51s1;
9th= Keleti/Csomortani, Mitsubishi, +4m53s4;
10th= Marisca/Itu, Mitsubishi, +4m57s5

IRC RO SS3 - Delecour strong @ 04:43 PM - On the previous (much longer) stage he was helped by dramas of other drivers, but this time Delecour is 3rd fastest genuine, beating Wiegand etc., 1.8s from 2nd o/a. Results after SS3:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 28m13s5;
2nd= Szabo/Borbely, Skoda, +1m07s8;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +1m09s6;
4th= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +1m17s1;
5th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +1m54s7;
6th= Pushkar/Mishyn, Mitsubishi, +2m04s4
7th= Marisca/Itu, Mitsubishi, +2m11s;
8th= Keleti/Csomortani, Mitsubishi, +2m11s8;
9th= Kangur/Ots, Honda, +2m18s5;
10th= Tempestini/Pulpea, Skoda, +2m19s6

IRC RO SS2 - Demanding stage @ 02:05 PM - 30km of very twisty-technical stage and partly very rough surface. Punctures for: Arzeno, Wiegand, Flodin & Aigner. Delecour 3rd despite losing 20s behind Flodin. Results after SS2:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 24m05s6;
2nd= Szabo/Borbely, Skoda, +57s4;
3rd= Delecour/Savignoni, Peugeot, +1m05s1;
4th= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +1m10s6;
5th= Porcisteanu/Dobre, Mitsubishi, +1m37s6;
6th= Pushkar/Mishyn, Mitsubishi, +1m53s4;
7th= Marisca/Itu, Mitsubishi, +1m54s2;
8th= Keleti/Csomortani, Mitsubishi, +1m55s9;
9th= Kangur/Ots, Honda, +1m58s5;
10th= Tomita/Csegzy, Mitsubishi, +2m01s6

IRC RO SS1 - Mikkelsen first leader @ 01:00 PM - Mikkelsen wins stage. It is very lose, biggish stones, so not much of a cleaning effect. Results after SS1:
1st= Mikkelsen/Floene, Skoda, 4m14s1;
2nd= Flodin/Bergsten, Ford, +3s8;
3rd= Wiegand/Gottschalk, Skoda, +4s6;
