BRC round might be misleading. It is one of the most classic BRC rounds ever, which shows how special this event is, because it is not in Great Britain, but in Republic of Ireland. For many years it travelled for a few stages to Northern Ireland, which strictly spoken is still not Great Britain but at least part of the UK. It had better battles in the groupB days than some WRC events. It used to be a classic Easter affair going all round the island of Ireland. It's maybe not quite that big any more today. But honestly, when the WRC chose an Irish round, even if only once, insiders can only wonder why it wasn't this one, because the Circuit of Ireland always was THE Irish rally and likely always will be.
